This is a band who play because they love playing together and who’s obvious love of music always ensures a pile of discarded high-heels and a worn-out dance floor! As well as performing pop, funk, rock and soul hits from the last six decades,The Ruth Mac Band can dim the lights and allow you and your guests to enjoy some subtle musical moments in the form of timeless ballads and popular jazz classics.
For those occasions when the kilts have to swing, The Ruth Mac Band will invite additional ceilidh musicians to join the party and add the flavour of Scotland to the proceedings…….

I just wanted to thank you all for your lovely music/entertainment on the evening of Lindsay and Alexander’s wedding at Shieldhill. The guests all thought you were great and finishing with Loch Lomond was a super finale to a very happy day. The Ceilidh section was excellent and great fun – there were a lot of guests from England there (and those of us living in Scotland who were also clueless!) and we were able to join in and follow the very clear instructions of the dances.Thanks to you all we had a lovely evening and wish you well in the future.

The day went very quickly and we had scarcely finished our meal when the band and our evening guests began to arrive. We had our first dance to 'Songbird' - sung beautifully by Ruth, and I don't think I left the dance floor for the rest of the evening! Everyone was up and dancing at some point, and it was rare to see the floor clear The atmosphere created by the band was fantastic... interactive, fun and relaxed and the range of covers played was perfectly suited to the occasion. Each time we were about to leave the floor to speak with our guests, the band rolled out another great cover and we danced pretty much non stop until the end of the night - finally collapsing, exhausted and ecstatic at the end of an absolutely excellent day. To say that we enjoyed ourselves would be putting it very mildly....It's been really lovely to write this testimonial, as it helps to keep alive a memory of what was nothing short of the best day of our lives. As soon as Ruth hit her first note the dancing started and never stopped!! The superb mix of music past and present ensured that all guests (and we have a varied age group!) danced and sang along until the very end of the band’s set. Ruth’s fantastic voice and the brilliant music supplied by the band truly entertained and created an atmosphere of friendly festive fun. In short, The Ruth Mac Band made our party swing!
