The thing that unites CeilidhDonia is their collective love of making music. Formed in 2007, this exciting band of talented multi-instrumentalists, have travelled far and wide. As well as gigging all over the UK, they have performed in many countries including Libya, Mexico and Portugal, to name but a few.
With a vast set of over two hundred songs, proving that they have the repertoire to suit any occasion is never a problem. Their experience, ability and enthusiasm always transfers well to the audience, helping to provide that special atmosphere.
The band can provide the complete package for any function including a full Ceilidh set with all dances called, an extensive Scottish/Irish folk set featuring pipes, mandolins, bouzouki, accordion, fiddle and guitars. Add to that, a Country/Blues set and a Pop/Rock set featuring classic songs from the 60’s, through to today’s hits. You are guaranteed all tastes will be catered for. Adaptable and versatile Ceilidhdonia can tailor the set to suit any requirement.

Ceilidh-Donia played at our wedding on the 20th May and they were just absolutely fantastic! We spent a long time deciding on a band, for us having a good band play at our wedding was one of the most important things and when we found Ceilidh-Donia on 'Music for Scotland' we booked them immediately. There were some issues with our venue which almost meant they wouldn't be able to play for us, but Dave kept in touch throughout and offered us lots of reassurance throughout this stressful time! On the night of the wedding Ceilidh-Donia were very friendly and approachable and they played brilliantly. We, and our guests had a brilliant time and our Irish guests were thrilled that Ceilidh-Donia were able to play a few Irish tunes. The musicianship and vocals from the band were excellent and they really provided the fun, party atmosphere we were looking for! My 91 year old grandmother was exhausted but refused to go to bed early as she wanted to stay for the music. It was great to have a mixture of music as we both have quite eclectic music tastes and our guests really enjoyed the Ceilidh dancing- thank goodness the band called the dances for us! We would highly recommend Ceilidh-Donia as a function band and are very thankful that they played at our wedding.

Thank you for all your help booking Ceilidhdonia. We were delighted with the band - they were absolutely fantastic. Dave was an exceptionally patient and amusing caller, especially as half of us didn't even know our left from our right. The music was great and all our guests had a fabulous time. Even the men who never dance were up on the floor. One of the highlights of the wedding for me was the final set they played where all our guests were up dancing and everyone was laughing and smiling. The only disappointment was that they couldn't play longer! We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do CeilidhDonia only play functions and events in Scotland?
Although CeilidhDonia are a Scottish ceilidh band, we also perform at weddings and events all over the U.K. Depending on where your event is, additional travel time, expenses and overnight accommodation may have to be factored in the price.
How long will the band play for?
As with other wedding bands in Scotland, CeilidhDonia typically play from 8pm - 12 pm, and stop for 30-45 minutes rest during the buffet.
How much space do they need?
CeilidhDonia are a 3, 4 or 5 piece line up, and typically only need a stage space of 3x3 metres with a power supply. A larger line up will require more stage space.
How long do the band need to set up?
CeilidhDonia only need around 45 minutes to set up the equipment.
What will the band wear?
The band can tailor their look to suit your needs on the night. For weddings, they can dress formally in black clothes and for private parties and less formal events they can dress more casually if you prefer. Essentially the keyword here is 'flexibility'!
Will the band play the first dance?
CeilidhDonia are happy to play the first dance at your wedding, provided we have enough notice (usually 2 weeks) to learn and rehearse the song.
Does the band provide background music during their breaks?
Yes. We will happily play music from CDs, or iPod, or laptop. You are more than welcome to bring along your own selection of music!
