Glasgow Wedding Band Showcase

Whether you’re looking for a wedding band in Glasgow, Edinburgh or anywhere else in Scotland, it’s always a good idea to listen to the potential bands live, before you make the final decision on your wedding entertainment.

Fortunately, Music For Scotland’s wedding band showcase in Glasgow is coming up fast with some of the best bands Glasgow has to offer, performing their music live at St Luke's and the Winged Ox on Wednesday the 23rd of October.

Because our bands are so much more than just their instruments, phenomenal talent and fantastic playlists (biased, us?!), we thought it would be great to give you some insight into the characters behind the music. After all, it’s our musicians’ personalities that deliver the infectious atmosphere that keeps you and your wedding guests dancing all night long!

We caught up with one of the bands performing at the showcase, in between their busy schedule, to hear a bit about their background – some of the answers will definitely surprise you!

The Apollos:

The Apollos are one of the most versatile bands Glasgow has to offer with a setlist that has something for everyone. Whether it’s chart toppers across the decades, pop, rock or even folk music The Apollos can do it all with undeniable energy and passion. On top of that, if you fancy a ceilidh on your wedding day, the band will get your guests up and stomping. With a top-class violinist and professional caller as part of the package, you’ll be reeling, jigging and strathspeying in no time (even if you currently don’t know what any of those words mean!) So, to find out a bit more about this fantastic band, we asked them to tell us a bit about themselves…

What made you get into music?

It's a different story for each of us, but the thing we all have in common is that we love the creativity that music gives us and we have a passion for performing. It's so exciting to be able to play for happy crowds and couples!

Describe your band in 3 words...

Funky, lively & friendly!

How long have you been performing together and how many weddings have you played?

We started the band after we graduated in 2014, so it's been five years of amazing weddings! A rough guess of how many... around 300ish? Who knows!

What's the best way to motivate a shy crowd?

Be encouraging and show how much fun you're having onstage. Judge what they respond well to and play songs that are of a similar decade or style. And always remind them to top up their drinks!

Do you have any claims to fame?

Our singers Jack and Fi have supported a bunch of big artists on their UK tours, including the guitarist from Foo Fighters and Irish singer songwriter Mick Flannery. We’ve also all been on international tours with various bands and artists, with countries including Prague, Canada, Switzerland and the US!

So there you have it, if you fancy seeing The Apollos and 5 other top bands live in action come along to Music For Scotland’s free live wedding band showcase at St Luke’s and the Winged Ox on Wednesday the 23rd of October at 7.30pm.  Register your interest now and come along to see 6 of the best wedding bands Glasgow has to offer perform live, helping you to make the right decision about your wedding music.  See you there!
