About Saint Luke’s
Venues don’t come more atmospheric than this. Conveniently located in Glasgow’s East End, on the outskirts of Merchant City, the former Parish Church, a Grade II listed building, has been restored to its’ former glory and is now a prominent home for Glasgow’s vibrant art scene. A multifunctional venue that respects the original features – check out the stunning stained glass windows and pipe organ dating back to the 1800s - Saint Luke’s is a vital part of the local community.
Saint Luke’s was built in 1836 but disbanded as a working church in 2012. In 2015 the colossal £1.2m refurbishment began to repurpose this historic landmark for the local area. With help from Glasgow City Heritage Trust and the Calton Barras Action Plan, Saint Luke’s is now an incredible new prospect for Glasgow’s music and arts scene.
The venue houses a bar and restaurant named The Winged Ox - a biblical reference to Saint Luke the Evangelist who, according to one of the owners of the venue, symbolises "sacrifice service and strength, much like the East End of Glasgow".
A popular wedding venue as well as an epic event space it is safe to say that Saint Luke’s has well and truly been resurrected to benefit the local community.
