Aberdeen Wedding Venues Fit For a Fairytale

If you’re looking for inspiration for the best wedding venues Aberdeen - and surrounding Aberdeenshire - have to offer, then look no further. Our wedding bands play across Scotland and Aberdeen has always been a favourite destination. Aberdeen is an under-rated wedding location - apart from being situated amongst spectacular scenery, with the granite architecture offering a certain gravitas - it is conveniently placed, has a well-served airport and train station as well as stunning wedding venues that are simply unforgettable.

Nothing says "fairy tale" more than a castle wedding, and fortunately, Scotland has plenty of those! If you’ve set up base in Aberdeen, there are dreamy castles that cater to wedding ceremonies and receptions nearby.

1. Drum Castle

Whether you prefer an indoor affair amidst elegant opulence or an outdoor celebration surrounded by the scent of blooms, this castle definitely delivers. Within an easy distance from Aberdeen, Drum Castle can accommodate both intimate and large-scale events.

2. Drumtochty Castle

Surrounded by Scottish countryside, this lovely castle is tucked away in a wild woodland glen, and offers a calm and relaxed atmosphere that works well with exclusive weddings.

3. Castle Fraser

Just 14 miles from the airport in Aberdeen, it’s not hard to get your favorite wedding band from Aberdeen out for your wedding ceremony. With its French chateaux influence that features balustrades and gables, Castle Fraser is both romantic and elegant.

4. Cluny Castle

Cluny Castle is an astounding property, situated amongst equally incredible grounds and conveniently located just a stone's throw away from Aberdeen. So impressive is this property, that it was a location for the critically acclaimed film “The Queen” starring Helen Mirren (architecturally similar to Balmoral, it was used as the double for the royal residence).  Complete with chapel, drawing room / dining room (for smaller weddings), and a sizeable marquee outside for larger events, Cluny Castle has something for everyone.

5. Fyvie Castle

Magnificent inside and out (Fyvie Castle is known for having extravagant interiors and sumptuous furnishings) this castle is truly fit for a princess. No stranger to hosting large-scale events like concerts and festivals, accommodating weddings - large or small - is not a problem here. Only twenty-five miles outside of Aberdeen, Fyvie Castle has played host to celebrity weddings and was even rumored to be the first choice for Jordan and Peter Andre’s wedding back in 2005. Whether you choose to arrive at the venue in a Cinderella carriage or a Bentley, you’re sure to feel like royalty celebrating your nuptial at this glamorous venue.

6. Lickleyhead Castle

Lickleyhead is a truly unique venue specialising in micro-weddings - which are all the rage - and the castle is the perfect location to guarantee you an intimate celebration in private surroundings. Here you have everything from a chapel to secret staircases and imposing 4 poster beds - not to mention the activities that the castle offers up to entertain your guests. Although the owners of the castle don't like to talk about it too much, Lickleyhead’s claim to fame is that it was the childhood home of actress Rose Leslie - star of Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey - and was naturally used to accommodate the wedding guests in the run up to her marriage to Kit Harrington.

Situated near Insch, around 45 minutes outside of Aberdeen, and nestled amongst some spectacular scenery. Complete with babbling brooks and enchanting forests, Lickleyhead is available for exclusive hire and has accommodation for up to 16 people. If you fancy having your micro-wedding here, book fast as it‘s in high demand.

There are many reasons why you should get married in or near Aberdeen. The city is pulsing with history and culture, and has no shortage of interesting activities for everyone. The castles, while not exactly within the city, make for perfect venues for fairytale-themed nuptials.
